What type of tropical fish can live well in a tank together?
I have a tropical aquarium and have some guppies, tetra's a few loaches and one male siamese fighter. They all seem to get on fine together but I would like to introduce some more fish and am not sure what species will fit in with mine. I have quite a large tank and all my fish are quite small. Anyone have any ideas?
I have a 400 galloon tank and at the moment, I have 3 tetra's 2 sucking loaches (Gyrinocheilus aymonieri), 1 barb, 1 male guppy, 3 female guppies which is 10 fish in total. I also have 2 trumpet snails to help clean up. There are a some small live plants as well and there is still a lot of space in the tank.

Ive had my tank a bit and all these fish get on well with one another.
if you have the height in your tank angels are great they are so pretty.
the clown loach are full size and its like they dance around in the tank when they swim,and love to hide behind the rocks i have in my tank.
the gouramis are slow moving but they are a great blue colour,they can be hard to keep,they get stressed very easily and are prone to mouth rot and fin rot and white spot,but as long as they are not in with aggressive fish and really fast moving fish they will be fine
You might want to try some different varieties of tetras. All the danios are good too. I especially like the pearl danios for a nice (but pretty) contrast to the more brightly colored fish.
Platies and swordtails are nice peaceful fish as well. I would, however, keep an eye on your guppies. While all these fish are excellent in community tanks, some of them may occasionally have a tendency to pick on the little guppies with their irresistibly big tails.

you can vey easily overstock a tank..Very large tanks depend on the person.
your definition of alarge tank is different, your can be like a 10 gallon, and my large tank is a 500 gallon.
But if you dealing with anything under 20 gallons, you full now/. Dont orget that fish will grow.

Simple, ask your local aquarium stockist on your tank size and current inhabitants. They should be able to advise you on fish suitable for a community tank. dont forget, as well as fighting over crowding can also cause mortalities so dont overcrowd otherwise your ammonia, nitrites or nitrates will rise.

Don't get Danios or any other hyperactive fish, they will stress out the Betta. Also, watch out for the Betta to nip the Guppies long tails. Other than that, just don't get hyper or nippy fish or fish with long flowing tails. Depending on your tank size, you might be full (if you have a 10 gallon). If you have a 20 gallon, you could add 3 Cory Cats for some active, personable, cleanup crew.

You've got a very nice sized tank on your hands, with our standards that is a 110 gallo tank
You can put a lot of different kinds in there, here are some fish that get along with a betta out of own experience
Balloon mollies
zebra danios
neon tetras
black tetras
any kind of platy (like sunburst, orange, dwarf,….)
mollies
plecos (bottomfeeder)
Cory cats (bottomfeeder like a peppercory)
any killie fish
