What store has healthier betta fish-Petco or Petsmart?
I am planning on buying a betta fish, and am undecided on which store has a healthier selection of betta fish, Petco or Petsmart? Please help ASAP!
Honestly, the majority of the time I go and look at the bettas at either store, half of them are dead, a quarter are inactive and sick looking, and a very small quarter are active enough to be taken home.
I bought my betta at Petco and he’s happy and healthy, but he was one of those that were in the active quarter of bettas; very darty, flared, etc. I saw one at Petco the other day that must’ve been dead for a while, since its water was bright yellow. It was nasty, to say the least.

it really depends on who’s running the store but i would really advise you to avoid places like that and go to an aquarium store where the employees actually care about the fish

I wouldn’t go to either. I get my fish at a place called ocean blue

Local Pet stores aren’t much better seeing how they keep them in a tiny cup just as often as Petco and Petsmart. Their both relatively the same so just pick whatevers closer or overall quality of that store.
