What fish can live with a boy betta fish?
I have male betta fish and I was wanting to know if anyone knows what other kind of fish I can put in the tank. It is a one gallon tank, so no big fish.
Nothing can go with your betta in a one gallon tank. That tank is barely big enough for your betta by itself. If you did get a bigger tank, it would depend. You can keep almost anything that doesn’t have long flowing fins with your betta. You have to make sure it doesn’t nip. But if you have a crowntail, I wouldn’t reccemend it. They are really aggressive.

One gallon is enough only for one fish.Big or small does not matter. Don’t add another one.

nothing can – they are Fighting fish… not even the female can live with him, he will just mate with her and then kill her.

I had my male with a blue honey sunset goriami, 1 female swordtail, 1male swordtail and a pleco, 1 glass catfish in a 25 gal. tank. He didn’t really like the pleco or the goriami. (I think he got annoyed by goriami feeling him) The one he mostly liked is the female swordtail. He always followed her around and when she was dying he scared off any fish that went near her. He also was like cuddling with her. I suggest a female swordtail. I also would get a 3-5 gal. to put another fish in with him. I have a 2.77 gal. with a female crowntail Betta and a platy in it.

Get yourself a larger tank 10 – 20 gallons minimum. Then you can have a wonderful community of fish with plants, rocks, decor.
I believe that the 1 gallon tanks are too small for any living creature because the water fouls too quickly. I feel sorry for the fish in the little mini bowls at the pet shops, as these animals don’t look happy and often not healthy.

my advice
How about a pigmy cory catfish – they are a little hard to find but kinda cute and will keep the bowl/tank clean

I agree with everything else. A 1 gallon bowl is too small to add another fish. Its arguably too small even for a betta. Pygmy cory catfish aren’t an option either for loads of reasons. Here’s why:
1) the bowl is too small
2) cories are schooling fish and you need about 8 pygmies for them to be happy so now you’re really overloading the tank
3) pygmy cories aren’t even bottom feeders, they’re mid-level swimmers so they aren’t your typical, eat all the food off the bottom cory
4) its a bowl so I’m guessing there’s no heater and they will need about 75 degree water

The one gallon tank is just fine for your fish- I have had fish for Years! A Cory catfish Is a bottom feeder. I have 5 in my tank
(46 gal) the oldest is 5 yrs old and one of them was given to me by my sister who had it with her Betta in a 1.5 gallon tank for almost 2 yrs. She only relinquished it because she moved and could not take her tank .
