How do I move a betta fish to an entirely new tank without stressing it?
I just bought a 10 gallon tank for my betta fish. There’s new gravel, new water in it, and new decorations. How do I move my Betta fish into it without stressing him?
The betta is already in a 2.5 gallon.
move the filter as well for the next 4 weeks and run both filters…..

just wait for 1 hour .put oxygen motors and put betta fish in tank..beta is simple fish ..but you need good feeding .so they grow fast

first you need to make sure the tank is cycled if you are moving a filter from an old tank to the new one there shouldn’t be an issue with that.
next make sure the tank are around the same temperature a large temp change can cause a lot of stress to your fish
If the water is from the same source and has the same parameters you wont have to worry about doing a slow acclimation but if the parameters are radically different you may want to float the betta in a container of his old water in the new tank and add small amounts of new water over a half hour or so to get him used to the new water
also if you can use a cup to catch to move him instead of a net he will feel much more relaxed during the move from tank to tank.

you thoroughly washed alllll of the new things with hot water right? (no soap) otherwise contaminents and dust on the new objects may kill him when you move them
also fill the tank up with similar temperature water, use water conditioner to remove chemicals in the water, and adjust the ph to be similar to his current tank, then put him in a small container of his own water and float him around in the new tank for a half hour till his little container and the new tank are the same temp. then turn it and dump it in, and then siphon out clean water from his old tank into the new one to make him more comfortable. its like going to college and bringing your old possessions to keep you happy in a new environment.

The more plants and hiding spots you have, the less stressful the new environment will be. Make sure the current isn’t too strong for him, if he is not a Plakat. You can add API’s Stress Coat, which is proven to reduce fish stress by 40%. It will be less stressful and hard on the fish if you cycle your new tank first as well. You could try offering a pellet.
Assuming there is no difference in pH, tank mates, or temperature, use the Betta cup or fish bag you purchased him in and fill it with the old tank’s water- just enough to cover him, and float him in the new tank. Add a small portion of water from the new tank, no more than the amount of old tank water. Let sit for 15 minutes than add the same amount more of new water. Continue for about an hour or till the container is full, then release him. While the pH, temp, etc might be the same, there will still be difference in the water.
On rare occasions a Betta may move to a completely new environment without being stressed, but it’s not common. He will probably be unhappy for a while, but then come to thrive in the 10g, and be much healthier and happier than before.

First clean all the tank and the gravel well, to wash away any chemical or smells. Then put him in a small glass cup, and place him in the already filled tank. Wait for five minutes, so the water temp in the cup can adjust the temp in the tank. After five minutes, pour some of the water from the tank into the small glass cup. Keep on doing this for the next five minutes, then you carefully get a small fish net to scoop out your betta and put him in the tank.
hope that help
