Betta fish care and tips Version 2

A new and improved version of my previous betta fish care and tips video.
Also something i didn’t mention is water changing, change about 10-25 percent of the water weekly, look at your fish on a daily basis to make sure they are swimming around ok, and are normal and healthy. Some good tank mates for either males or females would be: Corydoras catfish, dwarf corys being the best as they only get to 1.5-2 inches and are great for smaller tanks, the other varieties are good if you have a larger tank, guppies, males or females, be carefull though as some Male bettas will think male guppies are enemies and might attack them, always have a backup plan incase yur fish dont get along, Neon tetras, glowlight tetras, harlequin rasboras, plecos(if you have a large tank) and mabey platies and mollies(more so if you have a female betta). Also i would reccomed getting a kh, gh, ph, ammonia, nitrite and nirtate test kits to monitor the levels in your own home.
Please enjoy this video, and NOTE that you might have to read the writing quite fast, lol.

Balthier, a happy betta fish.

This is how a betta TANK should be, fish are not supposed to be kept in bowls.

Bettas are tropical fish that live in huge rice paddies, this means they need a heater and a filter (on a cycled tank) and more than 2 gallons of water.

they also should’t usually be kept with fishes other than peacueful bottom dwellers, and in VERY rare cases communit. They however, should never be kept with other bettas regardless of them being male or female. They are called “siamese fighting fish” for a reason.

Betta fish care and tips Version 1

ATTENTION: i have made a version 2 of this video, please watch it, it is a little more detailed and informative. This video is all about how to care and how to NOT care about Bettas/Siamese Fighting Fish. I would like to thank MetalgyrlACD for her inspiration and her info. Something that i didn’t include is: Change the water with a cyphen every weeks about 1/4 of the water, feed them small abouts a few times a day that includes a good quality pellet food and frozen and freeze dried brine …

Comrad the papa betta fish & his albino cory babies 12 gallon Eclipse aquarium

Remember to watch in high quality.

I got this tank one week ago. It’s the Eclipse System 12. It’s housing my 2nd betta fish, Comrad, and 3 adorable albino cory catfish (Kip, Kanu, & Kitt). It is also home to six fuzzy marimo balls.

Funny story about Comrad. I wasn’t planning to buy a betta fish when I walked into Walmart to buy an aquarium heater for my new tank. But I saw the bettas sulking and most looked like they were very sick. But not Comrad. He was like an inch larger than the rest of them and I thought I’d save him. Oh, and HE NEVER FLARES. I dont know what his deal is. My other betta Culligan flares all the time but Comrad is very friendly and loves it when the albino cory swims up to him.

Update (01/28/09) I’ve added one spotted cory. He schools w/the albino cory so I don’t think he’s lonely. Two days ago, added 1 very small (I think its really young) African Dwarf Frog. They’re all getting along very well, I’m happy to report.

My New Betta- Calcifer! Red and Blue Crowntail

My new Betta- Calcifer in his Eclipse Hex 5 tank. I got him, his tank and supplies on December 27th 2008 with some of my christmas money and giftcards (Yes, I asked for Petsmart/Petco giftcards so I could get the little guy lol). He is a red and blue Crowntail Male Betta and his name came from my fav. character ‘Calcifer’ from the anime movie Howl’s Movie Castle. I thought he looked like Calcifer in the movie because my betta is red and blue like a fire like Calcifer is. For those of you who haven’t seen the movie, look it up if ya want =] Anyways, my Cal seems to be loving his new home!
