33 Gallon Long Tank
Well, here it is, the update. This was how it looked right before I took it down. I’ll be receiving my 20 gallon furniture stand with storage space from drfoster&smith, so i’m sticking with two 20 gallon longs instead of this one. Anyway, the reason why I loved this 33 gallon was because it’s so low and since it’s not that high, the tank doesn’t require such intense lighting… though I do have metal halides running on it lol. On the right side, i took out most of the rocks to place zoanthids(mostly) on it and i kept the left side with a lot of rocks for fish to take rest and refuge in. Well, turns out my shrimps like that area more than my fish. 33 Gallons are great, you can play around with it a lot to however you want to aquascape it and it doesn’t take a lot of space. This is actually running inside my room. No refugium. All I added was ESV two component and Brightwell Magnesion every other day. Here are the corals I had growing which will transfer over to my new setup. (btw, i’ll be making a video of my new 20 gallon set up soon)
CORALS: Trumpet Corals, Kenya Tree, Starburst Polyps, Orange and Brown Zoos, Pulsing Xenias, Orange Ricordea, Australian Big Polyp Blastomussa, Wellsophyllia, Original Mummy Eye Chalice, Miami Hurricane Chalice, Bazooka Joe Chalice, Green Duncans, Aussie Duncans, Aussie Dendrophyllia, Bubblegum Monster Chalice, Pink Watermelon Chalice, Rastas, PURPLE HORNETS(cost me an arm), Eagle Eyes, Rainbows, Radioactive Dragon Eyes, RED HORNET(cost me a leg), Devil’s Armor, Chong Bongs, Nuclear Greens, Orange Cap and Purple Deaths… i think that’s about it lol.

my red hook silver dollars tropical aquarium fish
They can grow very large and can sometimes reach 30 inches/ 75 cm but they usually dont reach that size when kept in an aquarium tank. 12 inches / 30 cm is a more common size in aquariums. You should however be prepared that they may grow to their full size when buying a red hook silver dollars and that you might need to be able to house a very big fish.
red hook silver dollars fish are not suitable aquarium fish for most aquarist due to their size and the fact that they grow very fast when given the proper care. red hook silver dollars is an appreciated food fish which led the Brazilian government to set up a breeding program for the species to replenish the wild population. The project was successful and this has led to red hook silver dollars becoming the absolutely most common in the aquarium trade and being breed for food all around the world. This project also increased the amount of available Red Belly Pacu information and the amount of information about the breeding of the species. Breeding this species demands large ponds or possible very large aquariums and will therefore not be detailed in this red hook silver dollars info sheet.
A Red belly Pacu aquarium tank
Red Belly Pacu does due to their size need large aquariums to thrive. Juveniles should never be kept in aquariums of less then 50 gallons (190 L) and adult fishes should be kept in aquarium of at least 200 gallons (700 L) or even better in an indoor pond (or outdoor if the climate permits). An aquarium for Red Bellied Pacu should be well filtered and kept at a temperature between 78-82ºF (25-28ºC)
Red Belly Pacu will eat any plants that you but in their aquarium so avoid plants in the decoration. Instead decorate the aquarium with large pieces of bogwood among which the Pacu can hide. A few large can also add to the comfort of the fishes and help given the aquarium a more appealing décor.
Other large friendly fishes make suitable companions for adult specimens while young Red Belly Pacu fish prefers to be kept with other Pacu. Suitable species to keep with includes Oscar fish, Arowana, Clown knife fish, and Datnoids.
Feeding Red Belly Pacu
Red Belly Pacu fish accepts most food sources and are very easy to feed. Juvenile Red Belly Pacu does well on a diet of flake food but large specimens require pellets or live food to do well. Their diet should also contain vegetables
like salad and broccoli. They do well on a diet of pellets and vegetables so live food isnt necessary unless you want to try and breed red bellied Pacu.

1 Gallon Saltwater Aquarium and Globe Ecosystems
1 Gallon Pico Reef, 1/2 gallon sealed SPS reef tank, 19 gallon bog terrarium globe, 75 gallon planted tank with Co2 injection. Keeping ecosystems in odd containers changes the chemistry and dynamics interestingly and has a direct correlation to evaporation rates, nitrate binding or export, and temperature stabilization to name a few.
I will be glad to discuss the biology associated with any micro reef tank care so just post in the comments section and feel free to link your own micro reefs if you keep them.
certain shapes for the captive reef help the tricky balances to self-stabilize in time, and that is why you see the amount of life you do along with the video proof that this is not a plumbed or cheated system in anyway, it’s simply a fishbowl or vase reef. These were the first sub-gallon pico reefs invented that you will find on the internet, none are older and as long-lived with web documentation. if you’d like to research pico reef history start at Reefs.Org and reefcentral around 2002 and nano-reef.com
These forums paved the way for the explosion in popularity you see now with micro aquaria and document the progress of this layman’s science
I thought it would be interesting for all of us to share pico reef design concepts on this video so post anything you know about them.
nice to meet you all and thank you for watching!
I stay active enough on this forum and in the marine and fish forums it won’t be too hard to find me so we can chat about marine biology and aquatic sciences. I will also help you build and stabilize these so hit me up in the comments if you start one.
