Which is better for saltwater aquariums, natural seawater or salt mixes?
In Manila, you can buy natural seawater or salt mixes, but which is better?
Salt mixes are usually easier to use and safer for fish. It can be very hard to keep pH levels and salinity consistent with natural sea water. There is also the possibility of infectious agents in natural sea water that is not found in salt mixes.

tried both over the years,best results in my opinion and a lot of others i know is synthetic salt,natural salt water,assume you mean getting from clean source is to problamatic,ie pollution,parasites and different specific gravity,easier and less time consuming if you mix it urself.

i would say definitely the salt mixes because you never know what chemicals are in the sea. These chemicals could seriously harm your marine aquarium inhabitants.

Natural is always best just like taking water from the ocean directly and recharging your tank.
There have been so many advances in salt mixes especially with the synthetic mixes that they are pretty much the same.
I personally prefer taking water from the ocean and using it, but here where I live that only happens when I travel and bring it home.
Although there are always risks when taking actual sea water the benefits to your tank are outweighed. Especially when you get lucky and introduce new small creatures.
You also want to be sure if you are buying actual "sea water" the store hasn’t mixed it from salts to begin with.
FOr ease, salt mix. It is always a good idea to keep salt mix on hand for any emergency that may come up where you need to do an immediate water change.

Natural seawater is often considered the best, but only if you get it out to sea. Getting it from the shore is discouraged due to pollution, etc.

we will never make a light fixture better than the sun,
and we will never make a artificial water better than the ocean
when we make a light that can grow coral at 40+ feet
or a salt mix that can introduce live plankton and bacteria into the tank then we can compare
i wouldn’t buy any water off the shelf if you or someone you trust can go out in a boat and collect it first hand great other wise buy a bucket of salt
