Marine to tropical fish tank conversion?

I was thinking of converting one of my marine fish tanks to a tropical one. What would i need to change, and what could i use for it’s new purpose? I appreciate that the salt water would need to be replaced by normal water, but what about coral sand, rocks etc?
Blimey Rick, very thorough answer, thanks a lot. One last thought…what about the lighting? I spent quite a bit on marine lights – will these still be suitable for tropical, or wil i need to replace them? Thanks again…

You will have to change everything due salt saturation

Tropical fish tank with frogs

Tropical fish tank with frogs and rather shy but huge bottom feed who teases you all the way through that he will say hello but sadly never does. Great little frog scrap about half way through though!

my advice – your tank is not as large as you would like to think, 20g is actually fairly small for tropical so be careful with your stocking, your existing tank is way overstocked. the contents of that tank need to go in your new one and no more

My 10 Gallon Tropical Fish Tank

This is my ten gallon tank that i decided to redo. I took out all of the old stuff and put in some new black gravel, a cave, and some fake plants. I’m going to get a school of 5 neon tetras and an altum angelfish for it. I think it will look very nice. ALSO: the other tank i showed is not tropical, it’s just a 20 gallon with two goldfish in it.

How can i sterlize coral for tropical fish tank?

my mum went to egypt recently and brought back some coral from the sea. i have a tropical fish tank and i was wondering whether i could sterilize the coral and put it in the tank as an ornament? if so, how can i do it?

I wouldn’t do that…coral is very sharp, can cut fish, and over time, will dissolve in the tanks water. Keep the coral as a whatnot, not in the tank.
