yeah i understand …
yeah i understand the criticism that it will only kill the parasites that pass through it and not the ones on the fish and that is a concern i had…but i think killing the parasites in the water has to at least help
Oh, your water flow …
Oh, your water flow through the UV should be very slow to kill the parasite. I think mine was doing like 15-20 gph.
People always have …
People always have mixed opinions about UV in a saltwater tank. My experience with a UV & Ich have been awesome. I had two huge Ich outbreaks in my 55 gallon and also in my 150 when I first set it up. I ran two 9 watt UV lights for about a month along with dipping food in garlic. I got rid of the outbreaks with no loses.
if your nitrates …
if your nitrates are at 40 then your tank is ready for corals, you just need perfect water conditions if you want to keep sea anemones alive for long periods of time.
iv seen many people on reef centeral with nitrates near 100 with awesome sps corals in the tank.
i beleives nitrites and amonia need to be 0 for corals tough but nitrates are to be under 100, its pretty much impossible to gain 0 nitrates unless you never feed the fish lol.
That’s cool! Good …
That’s cool! Good luck with your setups!
I meant no offense. …
I meant no offense. But i have a few fowlr setups and i normally use t-5 lights at most PC wich i have on my 75. When i cycle my reef tanks i normakky use lower lighting like PC as well. Its pretty smart that you use your lights only 6 hours a day. didnt really mean any offense just funny about some stuff im a cheap reefer considering i have about 12 tanks but whatver works for you is fine…….. Happy reefing
nice setup. do you …
nice setup. do you think the uv sterilizer is helpful in preventing parasite outbreaks? ive had some trouble with ich in my 90 gallon fowlr and am thinking about getting a uv.
nice tank
nice tank
Not rich, just got …
Not rich, just got a good deal on a tank/MH light combo. So if the lighting unit came with the used tank, i’m going to use it! Instead of shelling out $500 for a t-5 unit. I only run my MH 6 hours a day. Will be adding corals when I get my nitrates down……stoopid. Don’t know why I’m even replying to someone who leaves a comment like that.
You really must be …
You really must be really rich or really stoopid to put MH on a fish only you could have used t-5 or even compacts ut MH stupid……
you have really …
you have really high lighting for a fish only aquarium
I wanted to put …
I wanted to put corals in my tank, but never got around to it. My nitrates are currently at 40, so I would like to get them down as well.
Yes, the powerbeads …
Yes, the powerbeads help the anemones grow by giving the anemone proper flow so the anemone can receive it’s food. It doesn’t necessarily have to be Koralia but in my opinion they are the best, especially for the price.
Nice Tank, not to …
Nice Tank, not to be a hater though, but why don’t you have corals in your tank if you have Metal Halides and a refugium. Fish only tanks do not require as much accesories.
Not sure. I do know …
Not sure. I do know that anemones like some good flow. The Koralia powerhead would provide that.
Does koralia power …
Does koralia power heads helps anemones to grow larger?
The UV stays on 24/ …
The UV stays on 24/7. I believe I used Caribsea brand live sand.
great set up…
do …
great set up…
do you turn your uv sterelizer every time your tank is murky or is it runnig 24/7?im starting my 1st saltwater tank (fowlr) what kind (brand) substrate would you recommened.
wow for three years
wow for three years
Yes, I want to get …
Yes, I want to get some for this tank sometime. I do have about 10 snails in there that have been going strong for like three years.
do you have …
do you have interest in crabs
if you dont want to …
if you dont want to bother for feeding corals then green star polyups would be great because there no matince just the lighting!
yeah they are …
yeah they are really dirty haha. especially when your roomate unplugs the filter cause i was too loud to watch tv. I dont think i have the experience or funds to make a nice filter like yours tho.
All of the live …
All of the live rock & bacteria in the system breaks down the waste. I believe Oscars are pretty dirty fish that produce alot of waste.
what about the poo? …
what about the poo? lol i had oscars a while ago and i was cleaning the tank pretty much everyweek. Is it just your filter that helps that i had a canister filter
