You might have high nitrate levels in your tank. That is why your algea is outbreaking. Do you use carbon in your water? Carbon can lead to algea. As far as the high PH level I am not sure. I would use a ph buffer just to get it a head start if your way high on the chart.

Chinese Algae Eaters work great, the one of have keeps my 10-Gallon algae free. Had a hard time getting it off the rocks, and soon enough it was almost impossible, but then I purchased two and they got right to work and cleaned everything up. Now if you get a Pleco, make sure you get a small species. Can’t go wrong with Bristle-Nose.

Your tank is looking great. Sorry to hear that you had some problems. If you don’t mind my asking how did you treat the ich? If you really want a glass top to fit you could probably get some glass cut to fit at a glass shop for a little less than it would cost in the store, just a thought. Do you still have your frog? I remember you said it was your favorite.
