hey heres my 20 gallon tank, up and running like 3 months now. filmed with new aiptek GO-HD+ cam corder. Song is – Beautiful, by Sevendust, off the album animosity (available on itunes) this is not my song. Copyrights go to Sevendust and record label TVT
Also good to have … Also good to have alot of live rock in your tank, it acts as a filter for the water and keeps it healthy. You can never have too much live rock imo.
Also, when you … Also, when you first add an anemone to a tank it will move around alot, even behind a rock or under it. This is normal, the anemone is just adjusting and trying to find a good spot. Just leave it be, not a good idea to move it in this period, and if it goes near your powerhead, turn it off!!! (trust me)
thats a little … thats a little harsh, beginners can still tackle keeping anemones, its not that hard. Just go somewhere else and say ur a veteram . Few other tips is that you will want to cycle your tank for about one month before adding an anemone. Remember to use stability to cycle ur tank (by it at LFS shop). Also, you want to try to keep moderate water flow in ur tank, just not direct, strong current. Aim a power head sorta close to your anemone (not direct)
Great! thanks for … Great! thanks for the info Ive been keeping a close eye on my nitrites, nitrates and they are as low as possible! Although i went to the pet shop today and refused to sell me any anemones when I said I’m a beginner in saltwater keeping lol . I’m using T5 HO fixture for my 25gallon at the moment.
you want to keep … you want to keep your water quality good, ie, keep your ammonia level at 0, your nitrite 0, and nitrates 20ppm or under (perferably 0). Get a test kit to test water. You can use the product stability, which is good for keeping nitrates low (its good bacteria )You want the best lighting you can afford, preferably metal halide. Anemones also benefit from a trace element supplement called reef plus, it has vitamins and minerals.
$150 dollars would … $150 dollars would get you the 20gal nano tank alone. (if u can find one that cheap) Then you’re looking at about $40 for the live rock, $20 for coral sand, $20 for seachem
Matrix filter media, $15 for activated carbon. Depends on how much u pay for the tank. I’m talking US dollars, I’m used to aus dollars though so I could be wrong
it is 20gallons, … it is 20gallons, and no you cant keep more than 2 clowns in a tank like that, it turned out to be a mistake, i was only starting the hobby,
All I can say, is … All I can say, is with my experience starting fresh water and reef tanks is that there are no set rules. There are always exceptions, living organisms can have tons of variation. Many people who give advice on reef tanks act like their is only one way to do things, nothing could be further from the truth.
are you sure thats … are you sure thats only 20 gallons??? and i thought you couldn’t have a lot of clown fish in one tank because they fought for territory. (please reply)
setup cost bout 250 … setup cost bout 250 for the tank, corals are rougly 100 bucks each, idk youre looking at about 700 bucks for everything. A simple live rock and fish setup is about 300 bucks. im talking aus dollars though, usa add about 50-70 dollars. You can add anemones and corals later
