Can you put a betta fish with another kind of fish?

Me and my cousin are getting a betta fish! And we want to put another fish in the same tank! Please! Help! Help! Help!

Bettas would rather be alone. If you choose to add other fish you have to make sure there is no over crowding. The fish can't be aggressive, can have no long/flowing fins(bettas mistake them for other bettas), and the fish need to be very close in size to the betta. If they're too small the betta can eat them, if they're larger they may eat, injure or stress out the betta. The fish should also have the same tank requirements because bettas naturally live in very warm water and should have a heater set to about 79- 80 degrees.

You should just let him have his space.

Is there any way to tell if my fish will be aggressive?

Another question about the Betta. Now that he’s doing better (merrily swimming and darting around), my boyfriend and I are greatly enjoying the aquarium. We’ve been discussing putting some other fish in (possibly a couple Dalmatian Mollies), since he looks a little bored sometimes. Is there any way to tell how aggressive Ozzy (the Betta) will be?

I’ve stuck my finger into the tank a few times, and he just sits and stares at it from a distance for a few seconds before going back to what he was doing. I’ve heard suggestions of getting a feeder guppy and seeing how he responds to that, but I’ve also heard people say that guppies aren’t good for these things, since they have the flowing tails.

Tank specs: 5 1/2 gallons, heated (currently between 80 and 81 F), filtered, water is conditioned.
Decor: Two plastic plants and a Buddha (because we couldn’t pass it up), and looking into getting a floating vase for lucky bamboo.

Any suggestions?

Don’t get fish with long flowing tails as it will see hem as a rival male and will attack it. They should be fine with short finned shoaling fish. Maybe neons or zebra danios. Yeah well like i said anything that has short fins that won’t be seen as a rival . Gorami’s are good…

Is quartz stone with orange dirt with gold glitter in safe to put into a tropical fish tank?

I found a lovely white quartz stone in the Cambrian mountains. On one side where it's very crevassey there's a kind of orange soil with gold glitter in. I've boiled the stone for 10 minutes. I've given it a good scrub with a suede brush and got most of the soil off but it's going to be impossible to get it all out of the crevasses and it's proving to be not soluable, unless I scrape it with the point of a sharp knife. Will it be safe for me to put this stone into a tropical fish tank? Will it change the Ph of the water?

I wouldn't suggest it. If you can flake it out of the crevasse and some came out with boiling, then more will leech into the water over time. Without knowing the composition of the soil it could affect the pH or even contain poisonous materials that could eventually kill your fish.

for tropical fish what temperature should water in aquarium tank be?

What temperature should water be in aquarium for tropical fish?

Depends on the type of fish you are keeping. The pet shop you bought them from should be able to advise. Most all tropical fish need above 72 degrees fahrenheit for sure.

Whats a good website for fish supplies?

I just got a new 90 gallon fish tank replacing my 32 gallon one. When I got my 32 gallon tank, it came with every thing I needed. The new 90 gallon tank came with nothing. So I was wondering what website is good for buying lights, filters, etc. I am also wondering what kind of filter I should get.
